H.E. Deputy PM Hor Namhong Prticipates in the 40th ASEAN Ministeral Meeting

At the invitation of His Excellency Alberto G. Romulo, Chairman of the ASEAN Standing Committee and Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister HOR Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led a delegation to participate in the 40th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting; the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conferences with Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, the Russian Federation and the United States of America; the East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting; the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers' Meeting; and the 14th ASEAN Regional Forum, to be held in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines, from 29 to 2 August 2007.

Besides attending these meetings, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister HOR Namhong together with other ASEAN Foreign Ministers signed the documents on the Establishment of the ASEAN Committee on Migration and Development and Standard Operating Procedures for the Provision of Consular Assistance by ASEAN Missions in Third Countries to Nationals of ASEAN Member Countries in Crisis Situations.

With Dialogue Partners, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and other ASEAN Foreign Ministers signed with the Foreign Minister of Australia the Joint Declaration on ASEAN-Australia Comprehensive Partnership, and with the Russian Federation the ASEAN-Russia Framework Agreement on Cultural Cooperation.

While in Manila, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister HOR Namhong held bilateral talks, and together with the ASEAN and other Foreign Ministers paid a courtesy called on Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines.
