Australian
Bank Launches Services in Cambodia
Australia’s
ANZ Royal Bank officially launched its operation with Royal Group
for banking service in Cambodia, in order to provide customers with
modern banking products and services, according to a company statement
issued on 15 September 2005.
Ten
months after establishing a joint venture bank in Cambodia, ANZ
Royal Bank has four branches in Phnom Penh, and plans to open branches
in Siem Reap, and Battambang Province in the next six months.
The ANZ has also launched a number of new services, available in
Cambodia for the first time - ANZ Royal Internet Banking for personal
and business customers and off-site ATMs through an alliance with
Caltex and Total service stations. Mobile phone top-ups are also
available via its ATM network, in association with local partner
Mobitel.
Since ANZ Royal Bank had began opened in Cambodia just a few weeks,
with more than 1.300 customers opened their accounts totalling about
$USD31 million in deposits.
Meanwhile,
Oknha Kith Meng Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Group
said: “This is a significant milestone for Royal Group and
for Cambodia, we have established a modern payment system to meet
the needs local consumers, small business and tourists seeking safe
and secure banking service.”

In
coming months, these services will be expanded to include Master
Card access via ATMs, EFTPOS services and personal finance products.
