H.E. Hor Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has written a formal letter to H.E. George Yeo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, to ask for his assistance in the military confrontation that is happening at the Cambodia-Thai border.
His letter summarized the current escalating tension between the neighboring countries. He has also mentioned in the letter that while the Thailand military continues its patrol in the Keo Sikha Kiri Svara pagoda, Thai troops are also assembling tanks and artilleries along the border.
In line with this, H.E. Hor Namhong is requesting the ASEAN Chair to create a commission to devise a peaceful resolution to this crisis and prevent any military confrontation between the two countries. Forming an ASEAN Inter-Ministerial Group composed of Singapore, Laos, Indonesia and Vietnam foreign ministers.
H.E. Hor Namhong also expressed his gratitude to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers for offering assistance to both Cambodia and Thailand in arriving at a peaceful solution to their current conflict.
